Willy was mentioned recently on NPR’s All Things Considered for his contribution to a book of short stories based on songs by The Smiths (in the UK it’s called Paint a Vulgar Picture: Fiction Inspired by the Smiths and in the US Please: Fiction Inspired by The Smiths). In the interview, editor Peter Wild cites Willy’s story based on the song Stop Me If You Think You’ve Heard This One Before. Click on the MP3 link below to listen.

His reflection on the contrast between dreams and reality in art is so powerful, and I admire how he paints life’s struggles with such vivid imagery. This resonates with how we approach challenges in any field, including in coding. Just as Vlautin challenges our perceptions, preparing for interviews, especially with resources from this site, helps us challenge our own knowledge and refine our skills. Both the creative process and technical preparation are about pushing boundaries and digging deeper into what really matters.
